Order an Art Tour "Bosch and Klimt" in two Vienna Museums

Bosch and Klimt were, undoubtedly, very different as painters. It includes their techniques, canons, and objectives. However, they have something in common – today both of them are considered to be geniuses. Each artist we now believe to be a genius used to apply all of their potentials to create a perfect piece. If we compare the best works by several artists, albeit different ones, we will clearly see what the deep essence of art is. This art tour is centred around two masterpieces, the Beethoven Frieze by Gustav Klimt and The Last Judgment by Hieronymus Bosch.

Bosch’s painting belongs to the Academy of Fine Arts and is currently exhibited in the Palais Lobkowitz. As for the Beethoven Frieze by Gustav Klimt, it is situated in the same building it was created for, the exhibition hall of the Vienna Secession. These masterpieces are situated within a five-minute walk from one another. This will allow us to examine both paintings in detail during our art tour and, most importantly, understand the perfect objective each of these artists was striving for.

Both works are exemplary models of a perfect and universal masterpiece. There is a term for this in Art Studies, Gesamtkunstwerk.

Bosch’s altar depicting The Last Judgment is a pessimistic outlook on human nature and the future of humanity. Conversely, the Beethoven Frieze is an anthem to humanity and its endless capabilities.

Each one of these works comprises several scenes, lots of details, and numerous characters. The concept and narratives of these masterpieces intend to completely absorb the attention of the viewer.

Even though Bosch’s triptych and Klimt’s frieze were created five centuries apart, they have a lot in common. Throughout this art tour, you will be able to see the deep similarity between these extraordinary works, despite the differences in techniques, canons, and narratives, and discover a new way of understanding art.
